The 4D Systems 0.96" Stamp Sized Intelligent OLED Module is a compact (similar size to a postage stamp) & cost effective all in one ‘SMART” display module using the latest state of the art Passive-Matrix-OLED (PMOLED) technology with an embedded GOLDELOX-GFX2 graphics processor that will deliver ‘stand-alone’ functionality to your project.

The module is designed to operate under two different software platforms:

 4DGL (4D Graphics Language) platform:
4DGL is a graphics oriented language allowing the developer to write applications in a high level language (syntax similar to popular languages such as BASIC, C, Pascal, etc.) and run it directly on the GOLDELOX-GFX2 processor embedded in the µOLED-96-G1 module.

The rich set of built in library functions and the high level syntax allows the user to take complete control of all available hardware resources such as the Serial Port, Graphics Display, micro-SD card, I/O pins, etc. This eliminates the need for an external host micro-controller to drive the µOLED-96-G1 module via serial commands. It provides the user complete independence to quickly develop powerful applications.

• Serial Command platform:
The serial command platform allows the µOLED-96-G1 module to be used as slave device connected to an external host. The host can be any controller such as a PIC, AVR, ARM, STAMP, etc. or even a PC where all screen related functions are sent using a simple protocol via the serial interface. Serial commands may comprise of a single byte or multiple bytes of data depending on the command type. The serial platform allows users to develop their application using their favorite microcontroller and software development tools.

System Requirements:
• PC with Windows XP or Vista operating system. You will also need the .NET Framework available from the Microsoft website if it's not already installed on your system.
• µUSB-MB5 or the µUSB-CE5. These USB to Serial converter modules are essential hardware tools for programming the GOLDELOX-GFX2 processor, with 4DGL or Serial platform PmmC firmware files, via its serial port. These modules are also used for downloading 4DGL user application code from the PC into the GOLDELOX-GFX2. You will need to install the appropriate drivers onto your system. The drivers can be found in the µUSB-MB5 or the µUSB-CE5 product pages.

Features:
The µOLED-96-G1 is aimed at being integrated into a variety of different applications via wealth of features designed to facilitate any given functionality quickly and cost effectively and thus reduce ‘time to market’. These features are as follows:
• 96x64 pixel resolution, 256 or 65K true to life colors Enhanced OLED screen.
• 0.96” diagonal. Module Size: 32.7x 3.0x4.9mm. Active Display Area: 20mm x 14mm.
• No backlighting with near 180° viewing angle.
• Easy 5 pin interface to any host device: VCC, TX, RX, GND, RESET, IO1.
• Voltage supply from 3.6V to 6.0V, current @ 40mA nominal when using a 5.0V supply source.
• Serial Interface (0V to 3.3V) with auto-baud feature (300 to 256K baud).
• Powered by the 4D-LABS GOLDELOX-GFX2 processor (also available as separate OEM chips for volume users).
• Optional USB to Serial interface via the 4D micro-USB (µUSB-MB5 or µUSB-CE5) modules.
• On-board micro-SD (µSD) memory card adaptor for storing of icons, images, animations, etc. 64Mb to 2Gig µSD memory cards can be purchased separately.
• Three selectable font sizes (5x7, 8x8 and 8x12) for ASCII characters as well as user-defined bitmapped characters (32 @ 8x8).
• Built in graphics commands such as: LINE, CIRCLE, RECTANGLE, TEXT, USER BITMAP, BACKGROUND COLOR, PUT PIXEL, IMAGE, etc. just to name a few.

Note: PmmC or 4DGL programming should only be carried out using any one of the 4D Programming modules (4D Programming Cable, uUSB-MB5, uUSB-CE5). Any malfunction because of custom or third party USB to Serial converters or Serial (RS232) to Serial (TTL) level converters will void the warranty.
