New York times reporter Amy Harmon has recently interviewed Bina48 a humanoid robotic bust that can have human-like conversation with other humans.
Chat robots have been around for a while and started with the famous A.L.I.C.E. In the past, people could chat with these robots though a text interface and have long (and mostly meaningless) conversations. Bina48 takes these conversations to the next level by introducing speech recognition, speech synthesis, head tracking and face recognition.
This robots also copies the appearance of a real human, Bina Rothblatt, and purportedly has its memories and personality. It was created by David Hanson from Hanson Robotics.
