The Pentagon research scientists or engineers able to develop robots to serve the American Army.
The main role of these robots will be to find and help injured soldiers and bring them back to a safe place.
To complicate matters, the robot will not know a lot about the field in advance and so it must be able to improvise, as in real combat.
Basically the American Army needs an improved Big Dog with arms. It will need a lot of arms or a “trunk” to temporarily protect the wounded soldiers because it is not conceivable that this robot will make return trips every time a victim is found.
The autonomous robot by Boston Dynamics has recently otbained a contract for 32 million dollars with DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency).
