Evolta to participate in the Ironman Triathlon

Evolta is a small robot created by Panasonic to market their Evolta batteries. The little green robot is extremely energy-efficient and has accomplished many feats so far such as climbing the Grand Canyon using a rope and driving the Le Mans race track.

Now, the little robot is getting ready to accomplish another feat: it will run, swim and bike in order to complete the Ironman Triathlon, one of the most demanding athletic competitions. See the video below for more information about the event.

WALL-E Ancestors Recycle Your Waste Today

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

ZenRobotics, a Finnish company, is willing to use intelligent robots to pick and sort recyclable materials in order to reduce waste and eventually save the earth and they describe in their trailer below. Yes, you read right, they have a “trailer”.

From our perspective, this could be an early form of WALL-E. All that is missing is a mobile base, some more cuteness, and a funky voice.

Sea Swarm Prototype

A very interesting robot project has been developed by a team from the MIT. It consists in using swarm robotics to clean up oil spills. As shown in the video below a fleet, or even a single robot, can be set to tirelessly clean-up the ocean surface from floating oil. Powered by the sun, the robots scoop the oceans surface by using a nano fibre capable of absorbing floating oil, and then capture it in an internal reservoir. The team claims that a fleet of 5000 of these robots could clean the Gulf of Mexico in a month.
