RobotShop

A leader in online sales of robots in Quebec

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Mario Tremblay Sandra Fradet

A world leader of online robot sales is hiding in Quebec :-)

Mario Tremblay and Sandra Fradet of RobotShop agreed to be interviewed by a journalist from Quebec’s weekly, Echo de la Rive-Nord.

The startup has existed for 7 years in Boisbriand on the Boulevard des Entreprises, Quebec.

“We want to become the leading global distribution source of personal and professional robots,” Mario told Simon Dessureault.

RobotShop has 20 employees in its office in Quebec and several external contributors internationally.

The television took 30 years to reach the whole planet, about 7 years for the internet, 3 years for cell phones and 1 year for Facebook. We’ll see about robotics.

RobotShop has developed a unique business model and is one of the pioneers in robotics e-commerce.

We invite you to read all the details by reading the interview (in French).

MyRobots.com: But what’s hiding behind this site?

Friday, May 14th, 2010

The RobotShop team is cooking up a revolutionary concept (according to what I’ve heard), behind a new site called MyRobots.com.

MyRobots

And naturally, like you readers, I’m wondering about a few things.

Because no, they haven’t let their blogger in on the secret :-( , the little devils :-)

So, I asked myself some questions. And I need your help.

The slogan says “Connect your Robots. Reap the benefitsTM“; in French: “Connectez vos Robots. Récoltez les bénéfices.

At first I speculated that MyRobots was going to control the housework of Roombas in homes all over the world. But it’s not just Roombas. There are hundreds of other domestic and professional robots.

The concept could be that robots will work for us by logging on to the MyRobots platform.

Or even that RobotShop will connect them so they can talk to each other? What are they talking about?

An open source robotics project like Willow Garage or Arduino?

I don’t know. The only thing I managed to squeeze out of Mario was that the project’s going to be really “hot” :-)

He also told me “This initiative will be really big… It’s the future.”

What do you think? Feel free to make suggestions!

Let’s Make Robots integrates the complete RobotShop catalog

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Lets Make Robots

The Let’s Make Robots internet site is in the process of integrating the complete catalog of RobotShop.

LMR now claims to have thousands of components available for creating robots!

And this is in part thanks to our extensive inventory, a full range of parts and accessories for service robots (professional and domestic robotics, robot kits).

We’re very excited about this partnership which should allow the “Let’s Make Robots” community to achieve even more advanced concepts in robotics.

Here’s an example of the integration when you go to the “Components” page: you simply click on the product information which then links to the corresponding page in our catalog on the RobotShop site.

Repair Center, Lifetime Warranty and free delivery at RobotShop

Friday, March 5th, 2010

RobotShop

We want to remind you that on this blog at the RobotShop we are the best! :-)

Here are three of the main benefits that make us different:

- The Repair Center also called the Robot Hospital is one of RobotShop’s strong points.

We repair the Roomba discovery and 500 series (vacuum cleaner robots) and Scooba from iRobots (floor cleaning Robots), Lawnbott from Kyodo America (lawn mower robots) and Aquabots from Aquaproducts (pool cleaning robots).

RobotShop also offers its customers an after warranty repair service, which is also available for customers who bought their robot elsewhere and not at RobotShop.

To start RobotShop performs troubleshooting for 30 dollars. The customer is then informed of the price to pay to repair the robot, which is never more than 70 dollars.

This robotics repair center -Robot hospital- is the only one in North America.

Robot Hospital

- A Lifetime Warranty on certain robots like Roomba vacuum cleaner.

The lifetime warranty applies to selected models for personal and not commercial use.

This warranty is backed by the work of our Repair Center engineers.

What we call “RobotShop lifetime warranty” is a lifetime warranty limited to 5 years. The expression lifetime is strictly related to the useful life of robots which is normally 5 years.

- Free delivery everywhere in North American for all orders of at least 250 dollars.

This amount does not include Canadian goods and service tax/Quebec sales tax and delivery is made by the Canadian Post Office in Canada and UPS in the United States.
