If you were at all curious how the Neato XV-11 performed in the RobotShop Ultimate Challenge, then this post is for you. RobotShop has done the tests, compiled the results, and put it all together for you. The findings may (or may not) surprise you. For anyone thinking of buying a robot vacuum cleaner, you should take a look. You can check out how we scored the robot and get the results broken down for Neato, challenge by challenge. But first, let’s actually see some of these tests. Video below:

While the Roomba 560 has been around for a few years and is a proven design, with the exception of a few areas, the XV-11 outperformed the 560. iRobot certainly isn’t out of contention, but the bar has been set pretty high. How the XV-11 will do against the Roomba 780 should be interesting. That being said, our current standings are:

Stay tuned for our next contender, the iRobot Roomba 780. Now we’ll be the first to admit: The Roomba 780 is certainly nice to look at. But does it have the muscle to match its appearance? We’ll find out soon enough. Expect the next RobotShop Ultimate Challenge installment in two weeks.
The RobotShop Ultimate Challenge is moving along quickly now; the Roomba 500 series has completed all the tests and its final score is now available. If you recall, the robot vacuums are being scored by 15 different performance tests: how well they pick up debris, how fast they clean, how loud they are, etc. With the Roomba 500 series’ results now in, you’re going to have some cold hard facts to back up your purchase decision.
Check out the video below explaining the results, or just skip to the scoring criteria found at the end of the video or found right here (PDF).

Next up: the Neato XV-11. We won’t pretend the Neato XV-11 and the Roomba like each other; however since neither can talk (well, the Roomba actually can… sort of), we’ll let the results speak for themselves. Neato XV-11‘s full results will be available in our next installment, two weeks from now.
As illustrated in the table below, your Neato XV-11 vacuum robot will get many new features from this upgrade, such as spot-cleaning capabilities, wiggle action that allows for better docking, bug fixes, and more!
We had countless requests for the Neato XV-11 smart robotic vacuum cleaner from customers in Europe, but we could not sell it there since the robot was simply not certified for that market. Today, we are happy to announce that there is a new Neato robotic vacuum specifically for our European friends; the XV-15!
The Neato XV-15 Absorbs the European Culture
So what is new in the XV-15?
The Neato XV-15 does not have many major upgrades or surprises. It comes with an European (UK and EU) wall plug (and of course the charging base), a few extra air filters, and sports a sexy blue charcoal coloured body instead of its “army green” American counterpart. It has the same advanced path planning and systematic cleaning capabilities that made the original XV-11 so popular.
I want it now, how can I get it?
The Neato XV-15 is available for pre-order from RobotShop right now and will be shipping out in limited quantities starting by the end of July. As with other domestic robots, we include the RobotShop Life-time warranty with the purchase. When you combine our competitive pricing, technical knowledge of domestic robots, troubleshooting support and lifetime warranty, RobotShop is the best place to buy your next robotic vacuum!
RobotShop announces today the Neato Robotics XV-11 Summer Promotion. This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to get a vacuum cleaning robot for free and it is very simple to participate.
Simply order a Neato XV-11 between today (May 18) and August 31st. You will be then automatically entered into this promotion.
On the first week of September, we will randomly select a lucky customer among all of those who ordered this robot. The selected customer will then receive a full refund for the Neato XV-11.
For those of you who are curious about what the Neato XV-11 can do, see the video below, it is quite impressive.
Years ago, RobotShop started offering our Limited Lifetime Warranty on the Roomba, and as of late 2010, on the Neato XV-11 also. Considering the run-time and amount of work the average robotic vacuum cleaner goes through, it made buying with RobotShop a smart decision. Now RobotShop is extending the Limited Lifetime Warranty to all domestic robotic vacuum cleaners, and to a few other domestic robots as well.
RobotShop Customers are VIP? Nice!
What does this mean for you? New domestic robot vacuums purchased with RobotShop will now come with the same Limited Lifetime Warranty that RobotShop Roomba and Neato XV-11 owners previously (and currently) enjoy, and the VIP service that goes along with it. On top of that, being a RobotShop customer gives you access to the Robot Hospital, so your robot(s) can still be repaired even after the warranty has expired. Overall it makes owning a domestic robot that much easier, and in the end, that’s how domestic robots should make things: easier.
About a week after the Open LiDAR project was announced, the Neato XV-11 has been hacked and now its juicy LiDAR data can be used by everybody. This effectively makes the Neato XV-11 not only one of the most advanced vacuum cleaner robots in the market, but also, the cheapest LiDAR available.
Hacked Neato XV-11
We have to thank Hash79 who, based on the code by Xevel and chenglung was able to get readouts from the Neato XV-11 laser. The cash bounty will be given to Hash79 (congrats Hash!) and chenglung’s Neato XV-11 will be refunded by RobotShop.
For those of you wanting to get your hands on the code and hack the XV-11, simply visit the gitHub poject page.
