The RobotShop Rover wasdesigned around the Arduino USB and is a compact, low cost indoor mobile tracked platform . Users can customize their rover by adding electronic parts to the solderless breadboards. The pan and tilt included with the kit can be used to mount an additional sensor or sensors, a camera or even act as the base for a multi-degree of freedom robotic arm. It is advised to also purchase the Pololu Servo Motor Controller as the servos requires a 50ms refresh rate.

Mount the Sharp infrared sensor included to the front of the frame to make an obstacle-avoiding robot. The front mounting bracket can also be used to offset the pan and tilt system, or to add an array of sensors using the Robotics Connection IR Turret and Lynxmotion L Connector bracket . Although users are free to devise their own power system, the microcontroller is powered by a 9V battery, and the motors operate off four AA batteries.
