    A nice little board, does the job, the only thing I don't like about it is the linear regulator on it :( but will change that soon :) but does its job and lots of support out there for you.

  • Pololu Micro Maestro 6-channel USB Servo Controller (Assembled)
    Nice product,fast to use

    Warning ! This 6-channel soft doesn't allow global variable with peek/poke. This is a serious limit for structured programmation.
    But a simple product to use and very fast development.
    I use it for servos test with some potentiometers for offset, amplitude, frequency, profil, mode and a switch for soft on/off.

    I was able to find what I needed in the documentation, along with some Google searches, to make this board work with my Mac. I was shipped 2 boards, one converting from USB to serial, the other the serial to 16 servo motor pins. This is my first attempt at using servo motors.

    This very small form microcontroller is very practical, it even has a Xbee socket and I use a Bluetooth Bee for distant serial com reading sensor values. I also tried it with servos and it works well. PS: In Arduino IDE, you have to program it using the "Arduino Mini 3.3v 8MHz w/ Atmega328" board.

If the old controller is rated at 40A, then a 13A controller likely won't cut it and would fry. Like you said, higher current DC motor controllers are more expensive.
