Robot Construction Kits

Posted on April 23, 2014

By Coleman Benson & filled under Robotics Projects & Kits, Where to Start.

Robot Construction Kits can be distinguished from normal robot kits since they use modular parts and allow you to assemble different robots using the same parts. A robot kit on the other hand only allows you to build one robot. Robot construction kits are a great investment because they tend to include everything you need [...]

Arrival of the Mini UAVs / Drones

Posted on February 26, 2014

By Eric Nantel & filled under Drone, Toys.

RobotShop recently received the first shipment of several new Mini UAVs / Drones. Unlike many small R/C quadcopter kits on the market, these are RTF (Ready To Fly) models, so everything needed to fly is inside the box. Charge the battery, plug it in and take off. Posted on August 29, 2013

By Mario Tremblay & filled under Drone, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.

Arduino to Release Their First Mobile Robot!

Posted on June 03, 2013

By Coleman Benson & filled under Industry.

If you have visited the Arduino website lately, you may have noticed a strange circular board under “Hardware” which Arduino has simply named the “Arduino Robot“. Robot Construction Kits are the way to go. We would suggest Robotis, VEX or Inex to start. LEGO Mindstorms is also very interesting, especially if you are nervous about getting started in programming.

We have had excellent success with the SSC-32 via USB using the INEX UCON-232 USB to Serial Adapter. It is based on the FTDI chipset for maximum compatibility and works with all our DB9 Serial robot kits, not to mention the Lynxmotion SSC-32 Servo Controller.
