  • LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3 (US Version)
Great educational/fun kit for kids and their parents.
    Review by Olek
Great kit that allows me to play with my son and to teach him basics of programming/robotics all while connecting with him and sharing his excitement. It is only going to get better over time as open source support for it grows and becomes more mature. Overall kit has a good quality feel to it, and software with instructions is really nice, especially software for tablets that allows to see building steps one by one in 3D, with animation, from any angle, with any zoom factor. If anything, it would be nice to have version of main software package for Linux.

As we say goodbye to the 200x’s and welcome the 201x’s it’s good to pause a bit and think about the world as it was ten years ago. There was no Wikipedia, no YouTube, internet access was still dialup for a huge portion of the population, and we didn’t have a whole heap of really [...]

Robot Construction Kits are the way to go. We would suggest Robotis, VEX or Inex to start. LEGO Mindstorms is also very interesting, especially if you are nervous about getting started in programming.
