  • Sabertooth Dual 5A 6V-18V Regenerative Motor Driver
    Pricy but good...
    Review by Matthew
For My application I would have been happy with half the wattage and (half the price) but I certainly can see the benefits of this device. It was simple to connect and configure. It retained the torque even at slow speeds. It completed my application in one go. I would recommend it for any project requiring maximum torque at two motors.

  • Sabertooth Dual 12A 6V-24V R/C Regenerative Motor Driver
    Great product!
    Review by Reg
I have several of these installed in various scale construction equipment models. They work excellent and offer very smooth control. My only complaint is the 1amp BEC.

  • RoboteQ SDC2130 - 2x20A, 7V-30V Robot Controller
    Excellent drive and value
    Review by David
Lot's of capability and power in one small package. We needed to drive two small DC motors, so the dual output was perfect.

  • Pololu 18v15, 5.5-30V, 15A Motor Controller
    Excellent for beginners
    Review by Aron
Packed with features, easy to use, very good for beginners. I had no experience with motor controllers before, but this controller was as nice to me as possible. Great UI, very well planned safety limits. Versatile procotols, good documentation. I'm very happy with it.

UAV Flights / Restrictions / Suggestions

Posted on September 16, 2014

By Coleman Benson & filled under Drone, Industry, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.

Drones / UAVs are becoming very popular; the onboard flight controllers are increasingly intelligent and capable, prices for UAVs are dropping and people of all ages are becoming involved. Even small UAVs which fit in your hand can easily reach several hundred feet above the ground and the technology has quickly surpassed any regulations which [...]

Robot Construction Kits

Posted on April 23, 2014

By Coleman Benson & filled under Robotics Projects & Kits, Where to Start.

Robot Construction Kits can be distinguished from normal robot kits since they use modular parts and allow you to assemble different robots using the same parts. A robot kit on the other hand only allows you to build one robot. Robot construction kits are a great investment because they tend to include everything you need [...]

Programming DAQs using FlowBotics Studio & FlowStone

Posted on March 14, 2014

By Carl Owen & filled under Electronics, Software and Apps.

In this tutorial we are going to cover Data Acquisition boards (or DAQ’s as they are better known) and how to program them using FlowBotics Studio which uses the FlowStone graphical programming language inside. Data acquisition devices form the basis of most robotics systems obtaining signals in and out of a system from external [...]

Bill Porters code works great, but I found at times it had some issues with the Lynxmotion controllers, so I forked my own copy of his library as did Lynxmotion. When Lynxmotion came out with Rev C? of the controller there was an issue with timings and the like, which ...

Again I would suggest trying my version of the ps2x library. I put changes that helped with my one V3 of the PS2 controllers. Not sure if the changes got propagated into lymxmotions branch or not. The values of: 0 128 128 128 128 Are probably something reasonably valid, even if ...

... (thus the need for a device with a fine position-sensing feedback), I don't think that the HS-785HB would have good enough resolution; as the controllers I've seen have a maximum of 10-bit (1024) resolution, and 1260/1024 is certainly not sub-degree resolution. for these reasons I would definitely ...

To clarify, you'd need two channels; if that's from one joystick up/down or the up & down from two joysticks, it's up to you, so long as the controller can do it ("mixing"). Most R/C motor controllers can, including the Sabertooth.
