  • Pro Mini 3.3V / 8MHz Arduino Compatible Microcontroller

  • DFRobot 4.8-46V, 2A Dual Motor Controller
    A good inexpensive controller
    Review by Bill
Its relatively easy to drive. Each motor channel has a 5/0V direction pin and a PWM pin for speed. Most other controllers have an additional direction pin that has to be driven at odds to its partner. Also I was able to use the same power supply for motors and logic, which is unusual and convenient. I am noticing that the motors don't turn as fast as an alternative controller that I have however - maybe 60%. So there is something odd going on there.

  • Lithium Polymer Battery - 3.7V 6000mAh
Greater than the sum of its parts
    Review by David
This 6000mAh battery is really three 2000mAh cells joined together. While you might think you could make something similar with duct tape, consider that you might get the wiring wrong and end up with an 11.1V battery that would burn out your circuits and possibly cause bodily harm. Even if you knew what you were doing you wouldn't be saving much money since this battery is so reasonably priced given its capacity..

  • DFRobot Mega IO Expansion Shield for Arduino MEGA
Well made board with lots of extras
    Review by David
I'm using this shield on a Funduino Mega for a home-sensor project. The three XBee slots allow me to connect two different XBee networks (one with 2.4GHz radios and one with longer-range 900MHz radios), process the incoming data and then output it on BlueTooth using the third slot. The shield is well-built - all soldering looks solid.

In many ways, the human race has advanced radically in a very short period of time. People born with missing limbs can now live full and “normal” lives, as can those who have suffered injuries and amputations. This is a far cry from the days when an amputated leg meant either life with a [...]
