  • MAX3232 RS232 to TTL Adapter
Working from Raspberry Pi to serial device
    Review by Matthew
I bought this so my Raspberry Pi can communicate with a serial device and I got it working on my first wiring attempt using tutorials on the internet.

  • Multi USB/RS232/RS485/TTL Converter
    Good value
    Review by Duke
Overall very pleased with this interface. The only negative comment would be the poor choice of terminal connectors. It is a push type spring connector and I have had the wires come off very easily. It would be better with a screw type terminal connector.Otherwise it works as expected, good price and good value.

  • USB-to-Serial Adapter Cable USB2S-01
    Works great
    Review by Joseph
Works great. Would be nice if newer versions of the Lynxmotion boards came with USB interfaces so this cable wouldn't be needed.

I may be missing something here, but from your link, it appears like you control the Merlin head using RS232 (serial) communications. If that is the case the SSC-32 could not do anything to control it. You can control it directly from your PC or from other General Purpose ...

And to use the Arduino, I'd have to re-work my software. Plus, I really like the SSC-32, its so easy to use. Anyway, the light strip uses ...

... I would want to do the split near the robots, so that would put the Arduino down 50' to 100' of wire away from my computer. So I'd still use an RS232 line and step it down to a 5 volt voltage swing at the far end of the wire. There's one other option that I wonder about. I noticed in the descriptions ...

Hello, If you already have a USB-to-serial adapter, we would recommend getting a product such as the Droids SAS Serial Adapter RS232-TTL to convert the RS232 serial voltage levels to TTL levels: * http://www.robotshop.com/ProductInfo.aspx?pc=RB-Dro-05 Otherwise, you can get the FTDI USB-to-TTL ...
