  • 12VDC 253RPM 14oz-in GHM-12 Spur Gear Head Motor
    Now I got some speed!
    Review by Allan
Bought these to replace the stock motors that came with the Lynxmotion tri-track kit. I found it was traveling too slow.
    The swap out was painless

I think the motors in the kit (GHM-02) should be upgradable at time of purchase to the GHM-12.

  • 12VDC 120RPM 15oz-in GHM-02 Spur Gear Head Motor
Reasonably priced gearmotor with good torque
    Review by robotDIY
Tried this gearmotor on a small 4 wheels robot. The motor, while running at full speed, is surprisingly quiet. The motor also offers good torque.

  • Cytron 12V 12RPM 166oz-in Spur Gearmotor
Excellent product for mdoel building with Meccano!
    Review by Peter
Small size and significant torque make this DC motor ideal for a cross-section of applications such as cranes and vehicle models constructed with the Meccano / Metullas system. Being able to purchase same in Canada is a big plus for me!

  • 7.2VDC 291RPM 11oz-in GHM-03 Spur Gear Head Motor
    Works perfectly
    Review by Pascal
    Powerfull for small robot.
The pins in the back are very.. very strong.

  • 7.2VDC 291RPM 11oz-in GHM-03 Spur Gear Head Motor
    Ignore previous review.
    Review by Sasan
    I meant to review GHM-13 not GHM-03.

The GHM-03 are not good for Rover in Tanking situations. Recommend GHM-13 for Rover over what is normally shipped with Rover.

Barobo Actuator Disassembly

Posted on February 19, 2014

By Coleman Benson & filled under Electronics, Mechanics.

Barobo‘s Linkbot all-in-one smart actuators allow anyone without any knowledge of robotics to create and “program” robots. Each actuator is packed with many features including: • Atmel AVR Microcontroller: Compatible with Arduino so you can re-flash with your own firmware using the on-board bootloader • ZigBee-Capable Radio: Communicate wirelessly with an 802.15.4-compliant radio, create mesh [...]

Robot Operating Time & Efficiency

Posted on March 09, 2012

By Coleman Benson & filled under Industry.

Have you wondered why some robots can run much longer than others, or why UAVs can only hover for a few minutes? The battery pack you choose is certainly important, but there are many additional factors which have a huge influence on the total time your robot operates between charges. Drive Motors The drive motors [...]

How Do I Interpret DC Motor Specifications?

Posted on February 13, 2012

By Coleman Benson & filled under Industry.

Choosing the right DC Motor (or DC gear motor) for a specific application can be a daunting task and many manufacturers only provide basic motor specifications. These basic specifications might not be sufficient for your needs. Listed below are ideal motor specifications and whenever possible, ways to approximate values.   BASIC SPECIFICATIONS Below is a [...]

The hole pattern is really for one series of motors. We can change them for you in your order, but for mounting, you can only use one of these:

Be sure to include clear comments / notes / instructions in the order.

When it comes to DC gear motors and wheels, we have quite a bit of choice. Do you already have the wheels? If not, we can suggest some combinations. Quite a few of the BaneBots and Pololu gear motors would work, and we have quite a few wheels which connect to them.
