  • VEX IQ Super Kit
A big improvement but *almost* everything
    Review by Raymond
I've used the "classic" Vex Robotics Design System, Mindstorms RIS, NXT and EV3 and some others like Multiplo. The Vex IQ is a big step forward from the classic VEX and has some nice and unique pieces and mechanically it's hard to beat. The only shortcoming is a narrow range of sensors, some of the other lines have a wider assortment and they're really not expensive enough to warrant omitting them.

  • VEX IQ Super Kit
VEX hits a home run with the VEX IQ Super Kit
    Review by Jay
I've been involved with competitive robotics for the past eight years at the high school and middle school level so I was excited when VEX announced the VEX IQ system last year. VEX IQ now makes robotics accessible to elementary students as well. The Super Kit comes with enough components to construct a variety of robot designs. VEX IQ is tool free, with all the components easily snapping together and holding tight. Several types of corner connectors allow attachment of structure in different orientations. An assortment of pulleys and gears are also included.

Help! I Want to Know More About Building Robots

Posted on September 20, 2006

By William Cox & filled under Uncategorized.

I get a lot of emails and comments posted from folks asking questions about robotics. Unfortunately, most of them are rather specific and I just don’t have the time to answer them all individually. Thankfully, that’s where a few cool products, books, and websites come into play. Back when I first got started in robotics [...]

The only thing missing from the VEX kits is the software - consider either RobotC (text based) or EasyC (graphical). If you are not sure if a kit contains all the parts you need, we'd be happy to clarify.
