Battlestar Galactica Returns to Sing Its Final Song

Battlestar Galactica

Ok, show of hands, how many of you robot lovers have been watching “Battlestar Galactica” (BSG)? I hope it’s all of you, because, if you haven’t you’ve been missing some excellent story-telling. I started watching BSG about year ago because I’d heard lots of good things about it. Now I’m hooked. BSG has deep, compelling, stories and tons of killer (and hot) robots.

Battlestar Galactica deals with complex issues of politics, religion, and human life after the destruction of most of humanity by robots.  In the shattered world of the 12 Colonies everything isn’t “onward and upward” like we see in Star Trek, nor is there an Evil Empire to rally against in guerrilla warfare.  The entire human race has been reduced to a mere 52,000 people who are running for their lives through the far reaches of space. How do you keep from becoming a military dictatorship? How do you preserve the rule of law? How do you preserve life and liberty without jeopardizing all that remains of humanity? Oh, and best of all, how do you destroy the frakkin’ robots cylons that are hell bent on destroying you?

So, the sad news is that the story of Battlestar Galactica is coming to a close. After almost 4 seasons, there are only 10 episodes left in the series – and the final 10 start tonight. You can purchase the previous seasons of Battlestar on Amazon.com. Watching the mini-series that kicked-off the new show would be an excellent place to start . If you’re interested in watching the final 10 episodes, you might want to check out the video called “Catch The Frak Up” to help you catch up on the series. Now, get out there and watch some BSG.

So say we all!

We’ve had a bumpy ride over the past few days. Looks like we got attacked by a trojan. Monitoring the server to see if it comes back.

A light diversion for the day – a German electronics store commercial featuring prehistoric robots (and a sexy cyborg).

Welcome to 2009, Robot Lovers!

Yes yes, I know. I’m late. Way late. All that good food, relaxation, and working on secret projects fogged my brain a bit. I promise I’ll try and make it up to you this year, because 2009 is special. “Why?”, you ask. Well, for several reasons:

1. 2009 is the 9th anniversary of GoRobotics.net. 10th, actually, if you count the year that we were called “Robot-Central”. NINE YEARS?! Wow! Time has flown, and for the most part, it’s been an enjoyable 9 years. I’m looking forward to 9 more – will the internet even be around by then? Maybe I’ll be writing the first post of 2018 from space or deep underground.

2. We’ve seen some good upward growth this past year, since I started writing regularly and we moved to WordPress.  Modest growth, but still growth. We had an 11% increase in visitors over 2007, and that’s even with some major hickups from moving to a new server.

3. 2009 should see the launch of my new secret project.  I’m really excited about this one. I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun. What’s it about? Well, robots, for one, and maybe somewhat related to this guy too. When I’m ready to start testing the site, I’m giving you, my faithful readers, first dibs on getting in on the beta. Shoot me an email, or follow me on Twitter to get on “the list.”

So, thanks to all of you for making 2008 a great year. I’m looking forward to all the robot goodness in 2009.
