A robot “car” is one of the most popular types of robot. The only thing distinguishing a car from a robot is that the car s controller by a human. In order to convert a car into a robot, you will need to add sensors and a processing unit (like a PC or microcontroller) You will also need to add actuators and controllers to control the motion of the wheels. Have look at our tutorial series in order to get started in robotics.

If you want to make a Nao (the robot form Aldebaran) you will need to learn a lot about mechanics, electronics, industrial design, and much more. Also, you would need to get very powerful actuators, lots of mechanical parts and very many electronic components. Maybe a better approach would be to join their developers program and get your own Nao at a very discounted price.
