Hanson Robotics and Intelligent Bots introduces the Hanson Robokind Humanoids. The RoboKind robots bring you amazing facial expressions on walking bodies, for the most lifelike robots in the world. With hi-def cameras, numerous sensors, software API, and Maxon motors and a powerful embedded computer, RoboKind robots are perfect for RoboCup, robotics, and psychology research.
Putting A Face On Computer Science And Robotics Research
RoboKind robots are your gateway to the next generation of research. The new “HANSON ROBOKIND” robots have been miniaturized and operate with a 2 foot body and 4 interchangeable heads. They walk, talk, sit, dance, pick up objects, avoid obstacles, jump and kick. There are 4 interchangeable heads (Einstein, Zeno, Alice and Geo), with motors that are as easy to change as a light bulb. The manufacturer has also created easy to use open source coding engine, and their own robot animation system in order to facilitate the development of advanced functions.
The Hanson Robokind bodies are built stronger and faster than any robot on the market. They feature the powerful dynamixel servos. For those models that walk, they use RX-64 servos in the legs, allowing quick movement and consistent performance. Models with gestural arms use RX-28 and RX-64 servos in the arms, allowing for strong movements, as well as fine precision. The bodies also contain an amazing sensor array, including an IMU with a 9 axis gyro/accelerometer/compass, temperature, torque, and touch sensors, and many other sensor options. It is all controlled by the on board computer.

Models
R-20: Expressive face with static body
This is a pedestal body, the attached head and neck features 10 degrees of freedom. The neck is fully functional, all expressive facial options are available. R-20-Z (Zeno); R-20-A (Alice) R-20-E (Einstein); R-20-G (Geo)
R-30: Expressive face with gestural body
A gestural body, the arms and hands move, mounted on a stable pair of legs. It features 20 Degrees of freedom, capable of performing complex physical gestures, coupled with the amazing expressive faces. R-30-Z (Zeno); R-30-A (Alice) R-30-E (Einstein); R-30-G (Geo)
R-40: Static face with walking body
A full motion body without an expressive face. The body features 25 Degrees of freedom, and is capable of a complete range of motion. This model does not use manufacturer's heads, and instead features a 2 degree of freedom neck and camera assembly.
R-50: Expressive face with full motion body
This is the flagship model, it features an expressive face on a powerful, capable, fully mobile body. Between head and body, the robot features an astounding 33 degrees of freedom. R-50-Z (Zeno); R-50-A (Alice) R-50-E (Einstein); R-50-G (Geo)
Heads

Zeno: He is a young boy, fully facially expressive, with a cute, cartoonish look. As with all Hanson Robotics models, he is highly detailed, and features a powerful sensor suite, as well as excellent cameras.
Alice: She is a stylized young woman, and fully facially expressive. She features all the power of Hanson Robotics faces, as well as the full sensor suite.
Einstein: This face is a reproduction of the famous physicist. It features a full range of motion, as well as Hanson Robotics award winning Frubber™ skin. As with all Hanson Robotics heads, it features a powerful suite of sensors.
Geo: He is a model with a static expression, but fully functional eyes. His blank face is ideal for those who want to have complete vision, but don’t need the facial expressiveness of Hanson Robotics other heads.

The Hanson Robokind robots are capable of the full range of human expressions. The key is skin, made of Robokind's patented Frubber™ material. Frubber™ is a biomimetic polymer that contracts and folds just like human skin. This allows the robots to achieve life-like expressions in a low power, robust package. Because of the skin, Robokind's knowledge of anatomy, and sophisticated robot engineering, RoboKind robots can accurately simulate the action of over 32 facial muscles.
The eyes move independently, and contain separate cameras for true binocular stereovision. The eye action allows for natural eye motion, simulating natural eye saccades. The eye and neck DoF redundancy is important for expressive gestures and gaze fixation. The eyes contain high def cameras that are 720p, 30fps with USB 2.0. The eyes have natural eyelid action. The head nods, turns, tilts and pitches. The head also contains two microphones, located near the ears, for full audio processing.
