Using the NXT Intelligent Brick (sold separately), the Lego Mindstorms NXT Color Sensor enables your robot to distinguish not only between black and white, but also a range of bright and pastel colors.

The Lego Mindstorms NXT Color Sensor operates by using three different color light emitting diodes (LED) to illuminate the target surface and measures the intensity of each color reflected by the surface. Using the relative intensity of each color reflection, the color sensor calculates a Color Number that is returned to the NXT program.

This is the individual component, and does not include the Lego Mindstorms NXT Intelligent Brick, software or any accessories.
