The Digilent Arty Z7-10 Zynq-7000 SoC Development Board is a comprehensive development platform, meticulously designed around the Xilinx Zynq-7000 System-on-a-chip (SoC) family. This family of SoCs integrates the software programmability of an ARM-based processor with the hardware programmability of an FPGA, thus enabling key analytics and hardware acceleration while integrating CPU, DSP, ASSP, and mixed signal functionality on a single device.

The Arty Z7 is fully supported by Xilinx's Vivado Design Suite, including the complimentary WebPACK version. The SDSoC Development Environment provides a familiar embedded C++/OpenCL application development experience for heterogeneous Zynq SoC deployment.

The Arty Z7 comes in two variants: The Arty Z7-10, which features the XC7Z010-1CLG400C, and the Arty Z7-20, which features the larger XC7Z020-1CLG400C. For applications that do not require the processing system of an SoC, the Arty A7, or Arty S7 may be more suitable options.

The Arty Z7 boasts a 650MHz dual-core Cortex-A9 processor, DDR3 memory controller with 8 DMA channels, and 4 High Performance AXI3 Slave ports. It also includes high-bandwidth peripheral controllers such as 1G Ethernet, USB 2.0, and SDIO, and low-bandwidth peripheral controllers like SPI, UART, CAN, and I2C. The device is programmable from JTAG, Quad-SPI flash, and microSD card. It also features 512 MB DDR3 with a 16-bit bus @ 525 MHz (1050 MT/s), 16MB Quad-SPI Flash with factory-programmed 48-bit globally unique EUI-48/64 compatible identifier, and a microSD slot.

The board can be powered by USB or any 7V-15V external power source. It features Gigabit Ethernet PHY, USB-JTAG Programming circuitry, USB-UART bridge, USB OTG PHY (supports host only), HDMI sink port (input), HDMI source port (output), PWM driven mono audio output with 3.5mm jack, 4 push-buttons, 2 slide switches, 4 LEDs, 2 RGB LEDs, two standard Pmod ports, 16 Total FPGA I/O, Arduino/chipKIT Shield connector, up to 49 FPGA Digital I/O for the Z7-20 and 26 FPGA Digital I/O for the Z7-10, 6 Single-ended 0-3.3V Analog inputs to XADC, and 4 Differential 0-1.0V Analog inputs to XADC.
