Serious version incompatibility

This is an impressive piece of technology. However... I bought this not realizing that it was version 3, when the current version was 4. I worked through most of the problems with help from other hobbyists. (Special thanks to Dr. Bruce!) However, this Slamware Core is not fully compatible with later versions of the Windows SDK. The Slamtec support website does not give any way to retrieve older versions of the SDK. Most of the time I get a prompt and helpful response from Slamtec, but not always. I recommend buying the SDP Mini from a distributor who still has the latest version. Slamtec is no longer selling this particular product. They do have others that incorporate the core and lidars.

Incredible SLAM robot!

Out of the box this little robot uses a 360 degree scanning lidar to map a room or even an entire house, then navigates using path planning, lidar path following and lidar obstacle avoidance. Absolutely amazing especially for this price! I agree with "Douglas" that the software needs an update - but my friends and I were able to hack into the existing software using the online documentation to build this onto a bigger robot platform adding a custom C/C++ dll to interface Python to the Slamtec SDP mini... So with Windows 10 Python we can send commands to control the SDP module which in turn controls a medium sized robot. I do hope that Slamtec continues to develop this platform!

Great technology woeful SDK

Hi all So much promise, a great little item of technology.... however the SDK is based on Microsoft's Visual Studio 2010. Who wants to go back that far for development. The other Slamtec products such as RPlidar also use VS2010. The Slamtec technology is being held back by the old SDK fro use in modern projects.
