The Carbide3D Shapeoko XXL Robust CNC Router Kit w/Carbide Router is based on a custom aluminum extrusion that serves as both the frame and the motion system. The rest of the frame is 10 gauge steel. Extra bends have been put in strategic locations to add more stiffness and powder coat the steel to make the finish as durable as possible.

Awesome!!

Very well thought out and well made machine. Worth the extra cash over cheaper competitors. Squaring the machine is not as easy as instructions make it out to be, be prepared to spend several hours getting it tweaked.

Great Starter CNC

The build process was pretty simple and straight forward following the instructions from Carbide3d. Takes longer than the one hour they claim it takes, but I really took my time to make sure I did everything right the first time. So far the cuts have been good. No real issue there. Carbide Create and Motion are easy to learn for cutting basic shapes and lettering for a first timer who has never touched a cnc before.

Great addition to a home sized shop

I bought this as a Christmas gift for myself and to add this capability to my hobby shop. The build took a little longer than the 1-2 hours mentioned in many other reviews, however as I am new to CNC products, I took extra time to ensure I got it assembled correctly. Had some issues when I first flashed up the machine as the Z Axis limit switch arrived damaged. The machine would not initialize and the Z Axis traveled down vice up. A couple of quick emails fixed that - Great customer service experience!) A new Z Axis limit switch arrived a couple of days later, easy install and the machine initialized for me. Haven't run a lot of projects yet, but the ones I have run turned out great. This machine is easy to use, I am still learning Carbide Create, but with the tutorials available, it is going very well. Can't wait to put this machine through some future projects as it is exceeding my expectations already! Very satisfied with the purchase and incredibly happy with the level of customer service. Thank you! Wisty
