Rapid Liquid Printing, a new process developed by M.I.T.’s Self Assembly Lab and Steelcase, is a new process which uses gel to suspend the material being printed. There are no limits on size and the process is touted as being considerably faster than existing 3D printing methods.

Rarely has a technology attracted both enthusiasts, professionals and the general public as did the 3D Printing technology. It will most certainly take decades until we see machines printing a Hamburger or car manufacturers mass producing vehicles entirely in 3D printing as some have imagined. Nevertheless, no one can deny […]
The structure you see above has the potential to be stronger than steel and considerably less dense. Researchers at MIT, in collaboration with the Office of Naval Research and the Departmnt of Defense, headed by Markus Buehler and supported by the intend to 3D print it using graphene (as opposed to the […]
In a recent paper published in the journal Science Robotics, researchers from Cornell University presented their latest invention: a soft robot hand that is able to not only touch delicate items, but also to sense the shape and texture of the objects it comes it contact with.
A 3D printer is a device used to create three-dimensional objects like toys, tools, model airplane parts and more from a digital 3D file. Around 10 years ago, 3D printing was relatively unknown and unused beyond the professional community. The machines were very expensive and sophisticated, specially designed for industrial use and not really affordable for the general public and were used mostly by designers and engineers to make complex pre-production prototypes, or one-off devices. Nowadays, 3D printers are becoming more accessible to the general public, with competitive prices, low maintenance and a multitude of features. With it, the market is experiencing a huge influx of 3D printers, with new models being released almost every week. In the near future, having a 3D printer at home will be as common as having a television or a desktop computer. However, the question remains : how do you choose a 3D printer that fits your needs?
Owning a 3D printer can be lots of fun and opens up a lot of possibilities for fabricating objects. However, if you want to print an object, you need to design it in a CAD program. This is a limitation that Volumental is trying to remove. By making it easy […]
RobotShop now carries the Cube 3D printer from 3D Systems. This is a very friendly 3D printer that allows you to make colourful objects quite easily thanks to several web applications 3D Systems puts at the disposal of the printer owner. See the samples of the things you could do with this printer in the video below. Of course, you can also create your own […]
3D printers are types of robots that are revolutionizing the manufacturing sector. They make product creation accessible to (almost) everyone by taking care of the precise and often cost-prohibitive work involved in building a physical object. In the same way regular computer printers made it possible for everyone to produce high […]
