The Makeblock mBot v1.1 Blue STEM Educational Programmable Robot (Bluetooth) is an all-in-one solution to enjoy the hands-on experience of programming, electronics, and robotics. Working with mBlock inspired by Scratch 2.0, connecting with computers or smart devices via Bluetooth or 2.4G (by different version), this easy-to-assemble mBot provides infinite possibilities for you to learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
The Makeblock mBot-Blue STEM Educational Programmable Robot comes with 1 pc IR remote control as a gift. The default program of mBot has been optimized regarding this change. Users can check whether mBot is functioning using the onboard button.
Children Safeguard
Compared to the previous version, mBot V1.1 comes with a casing specially designed for protecting main control board. Meanwhile, the casing is atomized to safeguard children's eyes from the glare of the onboard LED.
Better Auxiliary Wheel
The ball omni-directional wheel of previous version is replaced by a mini nylon caster wheel that performs better when moving to any direction and dramatically reduces the little clack sound caused by a steel ball.

Interest ignited right away

General My grandson built the bot quickly and readily. He was able to maneuver it around immediately which sparked his interest. The instructions and ease of using the bluetooth and programming app was not as well described. the app was not readily found in the app store which has slowed the take off. We'll see how the interest sticks.

Excellent Starting Point for Teaching

General The mBot, is an excellent platform for creating a teaching curriculum. Using the Scratch Platform to learn to code in C or C++ for applications development, in addition to robotics / machine control is as straight forward as it is semi-intuitive.
It is a superior starting point for introducing both coding practices as well as advanced motor control for all ages. My complements as a IT Professional with 35+ year to the designers of both mBot, and the coding environment. I look forward to developing and increasing our IT Curriculum using this platform.

General I loved putting the mbot together, very simple and the product performs very well. I use it as a teaching tool to introduce students to programming and robotics. It has a sturdy, yet playful design. There are also lots of options to add on, adapt and grow.
