I reviewed the Bogie Runt Rover back in January right after I bought it. I was happy with the overall quality of the kit. Now that I've had a little time to play with it, I'm posting a followup.

I've got two issues with this chassis:

1) If it encounters an obstacle while moving forward, the bogies can lock in a "cocked" position from which they don't recover after the obstacle is past, even if I reverse it. Not serious, really, but it doesn't handle obstacles as well as I had hoped it would.

2) This is the biggy: when running forward or reverse with all 6 motors going, the current draw causes the motors to run much slower than when turning with only 3 motors going. I guess I shouldn't be surprised at this, but it's kind of annoying. I'm powering the motors with a 12V 6800 mah Li-ion battery. It seems like that ought to be strong enough, but it's not. I tried piggy-backing a second battery in parallel, but it didn't help much. I also tried three motor controller chips (one for each pair of motors) but that didn't seem to make any difference, either.

The ABS parts are nicely cut and very sturdy. The assembly video is pretty clear, it went together with no problems and all the parts were in the package. The assembly video did not mention that there are two different screw sizes, but it became clear during assembly which was which.

I've only run it briefly using 4xAA batteries, but it seems to move along just fine. I tried to run the six motors through a single small L9110-H motor driver board and it got pretty hot. I'm waiting for two more from China, I'm going to use one for each pair of motors and see how that works.

Overall, I think this will be a fun robot to play with and the quality and strength seem good considering the cost.
