Looking to get started? Here's a list of sample projects of how to learn about how to make robots

New to LMR and looking to get the most out of it? Check out the "Get the most out of LMR" page.

This Start Here section includes robots and projects which are designed to help beginners get started in robotics. If you'd like to submit an idea for a new project to add to this page, we invite you to contact us and we'd be happy to take a look.

DFRobotShop Rover V2

The DFRobotShop Rover V2 – Arduino Compatible Tracked Robot (Basic Kit) is a versatile mobile robot tank based on the popular Arduino Uno USB Microcontroller Rev 3 microcontroller. The rover uses a twin motor gearbox and the Tamiya track and wheel set. The PCB incorporates a standard Arduino Uno, L293B motor driver, voltage regulator and prototyping area. The onboard voltage regulator allows the entire board to be powered using as little as 3.7V to ~9V.

Start Here Bot V2.0

This is the original "LMR Start Here" project. Although there are other "How to get started building robots" out there, this one focuses on getting you around everything extremely fast. You need no knowledge of ... anything, and you will learn everything. This is a bit more "do it yourself"

Hello there! I am a complete beginner at this and looking to build something that might be way over my head. Any help you can give me would be great! I'm looking to build a drummer robot that can run on midi files from a computer similar to the one that plays in the Compressorhead band. I'm not really sure where to start. I know that I'll need some kind of actuators or servos to run the joints and something to send the instructions to them. From the looks of that robot, he is all either hydraulic or air compression. I can see that some of his joints are run by linear actuators, possibly all of them. I'm not sure how to find these parts that I'm looking at, where or what they're really called, and how to go about making them work for me. I'd like to make mine out of PVC pipe if I can, and I'd like it to run fairly easily and quietly while it plays. Any ideas at all that could hep get me started in the right direction would be great!

Thanks!

Hallo..

i am a student, i am a beginner in making a robot, currently i am interested to make a robot with eye component IR using arduino but i do not understand in programming the robot, i beg help to program its arduinonya and how the circuit.

I envision a robot that speaks with emotions.

Hi:

I'm new to the community and want to get an idea into motion.

From my knowledge of robots; they usually have a quiet monotone speech.

I would like to make a boisterous robot that can deliver speeches, recite poems, and most importantly talk with emotion.

Any ideas how I would get started?

Thanks,

Douglas

I'm doing something similar. What I was thinking was adding the ability to put in something like a George Carlin emulator...

Meaning you could customize your robot to use a voice of your choosing.

My robot brand concept is perfect for this and brings a combined 60 yrs of marketing experience from 3M Corporation (my founders both worked there in marketing for decades).

Be in contact if you want to collaborate.

In terms of getting started, I think you should consider your brand concept.

That is what I see lacking in the robotics market. Siri sucks so does Cortana. There are major rooms for improvement here and I have already nailed the perfect brand theme.

I think that for most robotics builders, the brand name and theme is an afterthought or maybe just about 50% of the idea, whereas to make it successful based on principles of advertising, it should be more like 90% of the effort.

My robot will also speak great quotes proverbs parables and sayings and have some wit too.

I think it is a fine line between mocking the users and having a bit of bite to the wit.

Hello, i want to ceate an self driving car using the 4ch IR FC-35, but i dont know how to program it. also i coud'nt find anything on internet.

Can anyone pleas help me?

(i'm using the arduino uno)
