adding wifi control input to a robot running Arduino

I would like to add wifi control to my robot.  Right now it uses an Arduino Mega2650 to run the main control program.  I'd like to add to this contol inputs from an Android smartphone app over Wifi.  What do you recommend to do this?

This is an app I built to controll many of my robots. I have tried and used many, but never found one I really liked. I tried to make it where it can be resued for … Read more

Curt the Creeper Update: Adding Voice Interactivity and Sound; 4 bar linkage design

Update:
--------------

I spent the past few weeks researching voice interactivity and sound effect playback (mainly through Google search), and designing a 4 bar linkage to figure out what powertrain I need to drive the feet movement.  I thought others might benefit from info about my work so I'm posting it here.  This project will likely move at a fairly slow pace mainly due to current budget constraints.

Android Robt controller app Rocketbot

I am seeking the Rocketbot Android app. It no longer appears to be avaiable. Does anyone have knowledge where I could get this app, or a suitable app. I need a controller app that has speed control, its difficult to find such an app.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Com. between Android & Fez Panda

Hi Guys
Im planning to use my old Galaxy S3 for a sort of display/face for my small bot.
So i want to have some sort of way to communicate between my phone and my Fez Panda 2 board...

As i see it i got 3 possible ways to do this, WiFi, Bluetooth or USB.
I would love to do this over usb, but not sure if its possible ? My experiance with USB comm. is that it seems at bit complicated...

Any ideas, or experiences?

Accurate Indoor Localization using OpenCV, OCR

Just got this pieced together...Robot looks around, recognizes words written on walls and determines compass bearings to each.  Robot then determines what room it is in based on its memory of visual landmarks, and loads a map for the given room.  At this point, the robot calculates its location in the room to within a few inches.  Robot then knows where other features are within the room based on its map (Doors, Windows, Obstacles).  In the video, the robot announces the heading to the door.

Learns by listening and the web. Talks, answers questions from her own memory or Wolfram, tells jokes, expresses opinions, quotes wiki or people, tracks heat or colors. Has reflex behaviors. Uses various web services. Has her own motivations that drive autonomy.

ArduinoDroid

Finaly, after years of waiting, the killer app is here: ArduinoDroid an app that allows one to program an Arduino board from a tablet or (some) phone. Yeah, now you can pack light for that robotic contest or conference, no need to carry the whole laptop, just a tiny 7" tablet that you can also use to read, watch movies, play games... or quickly tweak your sumo robot's code.

4 OS-es at once on a Beagle Board...

Wow, the guys from Always Innovating are amazing! They managed to run 4 operating systems at once on a Beagle Board (and on the Touch Book and Smart Book tablets): Android, Ubuntu, Chrome OS and AIOS. By pressing the User Button on the Beagle Board you can switch between the started OS-es. Why would you need that? I have no idea, but I find it cool!

IOIO-SHR version 2 sneak preview

Started this weekend with the 2nd version of my IOIO-SHR (Start Here Robot). Because Santa brought me a Rover 5 chassis on christmas, this would become the chassis for it. I got the 2WD version including wheel encoders and the motor controller board.

Here are some shots from the assembly test.

The IOIO is mounted on a carrier board with 3 pin headers for all IOs. Some Jumpers are available to select the supply voltage for the IO headers, 3.3V, 5V from the IOIO or external servo voltage.

Introduction: The IOIO-SHR is my first attempt in using Java to program a robot. Using a Sparkfun IOIO board to control the hardware and an Android phone as the … Read more
