17 Year-old programs a robot to teach itself to walk!!

Hi everyone!

My name is Gregory, but you can call me Greg. I am a 17 year-old high school student who is building a very interesting robot(I am also doing all of the designing and prototyping. I am building a six-legged robot, called a "hexapod", that is able to teach itself to walk.

Powering SG90 servos with lipo and BEC

Hi there,

I'm building a robot with 15+ SG90 micro servo's.

To power it, I've bought a 2C lipo battery, and a 5/6 volt BEC.

I've hooked up the BEC's 5v (red) to all the servo's red, and the BEC's ground to the servo's ground, as well as some arduino grounds (that control the servo).

The BEC has an on/off switch.  When the BEC is switched to off, and I plug the battery into the BEC, a surge of current flows through to the motors.  They all "twitch" very rapidly, and I've had some wires melt/smoke.

My questions are:

Clubs in UK

I want to build an autonomous mobile robot with wheels or tracks, vision, arms and carrying ability (for example a tray area) that can navigate in a flat inside or outside domestic environment (not both).

I am UK based, have some old OO programming experience and general PC -based programming experience but no electronics expertise apart from basic school physics .

I work full-time so this would very much be a part-time project.  From looking around I'm thinking of perhaps using ROS, OpenCV and maybe Arduino components but would like to know

hc-06 paired to Android and PC but disconnected

The hc-06 is paired to the computer and Android but disconnected. I get as far is entering the 1234 passkey, Then, " your device is ready for use". Then I go to Bluetooth Devices and the HC-06 is disconnected.

Any help is appreciated.

How to control a two motors and encoders in a single function?

Dear: LMR

Just to let you know I am trying to control all my robots motors and encoders in a single function. It is not going so well obviously since I am starting a forum. This code is supposed to work that function void move has parameters that are leftMotorSpeed, rightMotorSpeed, leftMotorDistance, and rightMotorDistance. Left and Right motor speed control the motor's speed. The other parameters represent the number of ticks the motors are supposed to tick. When they reach a certain amount of ticks the function returns. As should the loop function.

Arduino code - switch statement

Hi, I code a program for my autonomous robot. I am sending numbers from 0 to 8 from Raspberry pi to Arduino through Serial communication. I have Rasp code. But arduino code has some problems. Please can you tell me how to write it best? I want to use switch statement to choose direction for my robot/motors. But when I compile that code to arduino on robot - my robot start doing only default commands. Please why????

Arduino uploading issue?(Solved)

Dear: LMR

Just to let you know I am trying to upload code to my arduino uno but I keep running into this error every time I do so. Can someone please help me I don't think this is anything to do with my code I'm trying to upload? Thank you.

From: Noah

Dear: LMR

Very sorry guys lol. I just solved the problem. I ran the code on a different board and it worked. Very sorry this is sort of embarrassing. Thank you.

How to build your first robot?

Dear: LMR

Just to let you know guys it wasn't that long ago I asked my Dad if we could start a robot club at school. My dad brought it up to my princible and he did not have a problem with it. This robot club is probably going to teach people in highschool to build there first robot. I have no idea what robot I am going to teach highschoolers to build.

Control DC motors with a Grove H-Bridge and DynamixShield

I just uploaded a new video tutorial on how to use the Grove dual H-Bridge module with the DynamixShield and an Arduino Due to control DC motors.

Ultrasonic Collision Avoidance Arduino and Raspberry Pi

I am building and testing a telepresence wheeled rover bot that has two methods of control:

1. Web Interface (Manual Mode): This consists of a control panel on a web page served using WebIOPi on a Raspberry Pi which, when activated, sends commands to an Arduino Nano AT Mega328P via a two wire i2c interface (Forward, Back etc).

Serial vs I2C communication

Hi, please, can you tell me difference between I2C and Serial communication and which is the best for communication Raspberry Pi 2 with Arduino (T'Rex Controller). Thanks

Video tutorial on wireless XBee serial with the Due and DynamixShield

I just uploaded a new video tutorial on how to perform wireless communications using Grove XBee sockets with two Arduino Dues and the DynamixShield. This is part of my Kickstarter campaign to get the DynamixShield produced commercially. It lets you control smart and regular servos, and has tons of Grove and RobotGeek connectors, all in one shield.

Arduino and motor driver underpowered ?

I'm building my first robot.

I'm not sure if I may link to Aliexpress for the parts I used, so I'll list them.

Parts :

- Uno (Arduino Uno copy)

- L298N board

- tank chassis with 2 "universal motor 130, support 3-8v voltage"

- HC-05 Bluetooth module (optional)

Humanoid concept Arduino

This concept to make a humanoid head, that speaks like a human, chooses phrases randomly. As (it) speaks , it moves head, eyeballs and eyebrows randomly in an emulation of a human. This can be useful for lonely people who cannot have a pet at home.

This is the basic idea..Later it is possible to develope it further to talk longer durations, and even tell short stories stored on an SD card.

Motor control or servo control

I came across this circuit on google. It controls motor speed by simple flip-flop that gives a PWM signal.

The question is can this be used as a servo control ?

first use 5 volts supply instead of 12 volts ...then by replacing the 3RD NPN transistor with a servo. the + goes up, the - goes down and the signal feeds from the flip flop...can we do that ??
