Looking at making a quadruped or hexapod and not sure about the best config for the legs. I've made a quadruped before with 3 servers per leg didn't seem to gain much from the extra flexability.

Hexapod IK problem

Hi everyone, So I'm trying my hand at making a hexapod and have hit a snag which has me stuck now for a while. Basically I have built the hexapod and started coding it. Now I am trying to do body translation, i.e. the body moves but the feet stay perfectly planted, which works perfectly if I move the body up or down( my z direction). However when I move in the x or y direction, the feet do not stay planted at all. This can be seen in the 2nd and 3rd pic attached where the 1st pic is the starting position.

Intel Edison Arduino Expansion ---> dymanixel motors

I was wondering what the best method to control DYNAMIXEL AX-18A motors from an Intel Edison with arduino expansion board would be, I have teh Arbotix-M, the UartSBee, the Edison with Arduino Expansion Board, and the Arduino Uno. I really want to make it so that I can use the Intel Edison w/ expansion board, and send that to the Arbotix-M. Can you help me?

17 Year-old programs a robot to teach itself to walk!!

Hi everyone!

My name is Gregory, but you can call me Greg. I am a 17 year-old high school student who is building a very interesting robot(I am also doing all of the designing and prototyping. I am building a six-legged robot, called a "hexapod", that is able to teach itself to walk.

Robot Servos/control board advice

Hi, I would like to do an investment and to buy some servos (10/20 units).

I don't have too much money to spend, so I'm looking for cheap servos with however enough torque to do some interesting robots (humanoid, arm, hexapod, etc).

Initially I found MG995/MG996R servos, then I found rds3115 robot servo.

The features of the rds3115 are:

Similar to the Pololu 3-servo hexapod, except I made my own PCB, built my own IR sensor system, and wrote my own code including hardware Timer1/interrupt assisted … Read more

Hexapod controlled by arduino+devantechSD21

Hello there,

I am working on a hexapod robot and i am trynig to controll it by using aruino + SD21 servo controller.When i am  test each servo separately ,are acting like i want but when i am connecting all of them its like most servos are not moving at all.

This is my code:

#include <Wire.h>

#define ADDRESS 0xC2

int servo1  = 63;

int servo2  = 64;

int servo3  = 65;

int servo4  = 66;

int servo5  = 67;

int servo6  = 68;

int servo7  = 69;

Servo Standards?

Hey all,

Just graduated from college and started a new job. I finally have time to pursue projects I've always wanted to do.

ANYWHO. I bought a cheap aluminum hexapod frame from the internet that recommended I use Tower Pro MG995 servos. Unfortunately I just found out through online reviews that these servos and their improved models are not so hot, to put it extremely lightly.

I noticed however that a Futuba S3003 I had lying around seems to have a casing with mounting holes that fit flush with the holes in the frame as well.

Cant find a tutorial !

Hi everyone,

Recently I came across some very good hexapods designed with 6,8 and even 12 servos.I have a duemilanove and would like to build one.

But unfortunately I have not ventured into this domain and my search for a step by step tutorial on google(on multilegged critters like hexapod) and instructables proved futile.Any Links that can help me get started or rather a complete tutorial link would be awesome.Thanks!

servo for mini hexapod

I want to build a mini hexapod and i would like a suggestion from you for a cheap servomachine (de kserw an to grafw kala auto) to use, which will be sufficient for this project.. I have found these here on my own:

Baby's First Hexapod

Hey party people, how goes?
I'm a recent engineering college grad and I finally have enough money and time to work on a few projects I've put off for the past few years.

The first project I want to pursue is a hexapod development platform to learn some programming and locomotion basics and then build upon that.

how do I determine power requirements for an 18 towerpro mg955 servo hexapod?

I recently bought a Chinese made hexapod and 32 servo Torobot controller.  Hooking up the bluetooth module to the controller was easy, and so was connecting all 18 hexapod servos, and the programming looks straightforward.

the servos are towerpro mg955.  I have found various info on these (including comments re their quality) but was not able to find out anything about how much current they can use/need under load
