obstacle avoidance

E18-DS80NK IR Sensors

I'm working on an obstacle avoidance robot. I have two DS80NK's mounted side by side, each canted in about twenty degrees so the beams cross each other. I got curious about the shape and range of the beams so I mapped them out. They didn't look quite like I expected. Each side of the beam (2D) goes straight out for a distance then starts to turn in and then turns out at a greater angle than the first part of the beam. It's kind of hard to describe in words so the picture shows what I'm talking about.

Help with collision avoidance code

I finally got my robot to avoid obstacles! I thank those that help me identify the problem Now I need to vary the speed of the
motors. I've commented the code I wrote to accomplish this. The sketch compiles without errors, however the int motorspeed does not vary 
not vary the motor speed. I'm new to Aurduino programming and sure its a simple problem.

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me with is code. The motors on the robot never turn, no matter the distance at which an obstacle is encountered. The ultrasonic sensor, servo and motors have been verified and our functional. I've also ran several other similuar sketches with the same results. The battery is fully charged. Any help is appreciated.

Drop and Obstacle Avoidance - Which Sensors to Use

Hello Everyone! 

I'm new to the forum and had a few questions regarding sensors. I'm building a project bot and I'm looking for some info regarding two topics for some things I need the bot to do.

1) Not crash into anything - obstacle avoidance

2) Not fall off of anything - drop sensors

making an arduino line follower with obstacle avoidance

I have had an arduino for a wile now but i just cannot find out how to make a robot with line following and obstacle avoidance.

How can I write a sketch that will alow one sensor to have more power over another sensor? So if my robot is moving along a line and i put something infrunt of it it will sotp useing the line sensors and use the code for the obstacle avoidance.

PzKw "Tammy"

Start me notI decided to do this Tamiya tankbot as a blog as there's been a few similar posts lately and It is probably one of the most common platforms about the net so I will see if I can do something different with it. But for starters I have built it like a start here robot although I will not call it that.
At the moment it is controlled by a pic16F690 but I intend to build different configurations using other micros as well.
