Wild Thumper, progress but help/advice requested

Hi all,

I had a lot of trouble with motor driver boards and my Wild Thumper 4WD chassis - in the end I bought a more expensive motor controller said to handle 60A. I am controlling the paired (left/right side) motors by PWM signal and  it now drives forward/backwards/left/right etc.

Controlling a Raspberry Pi / Arduino Bot from the Internet Part 2 of 3

This is part two of a three part Series to explain how I control my BotTwo semi-Autonomous Robot from a webpage on the Internet. 

Mega blocks - DRC seeker working...

Well.... I set myself the task of creating a robot that would learn an object then go and find it using vision....

Mission accomplished.... well, its probably not very robust but that's a problem for another day...

Today's task was the Mega Block challenge -  an area bordered by Mega Blocks (it's what the kids use and have quite detailed images on them that I can use as objects to find):

DRC: object recognition using Raspberry Pi

Well... now for some simple object recognition...

The program flow:

a) take an image; take a subsection as the reference object - calculate and store the SIFT descriptors for this image

SIFT descriptors

b) rotate DRC by 180 degrees.

c) take an image

d) calc SIFT descriptors and look for matches with the reference

e) if not many matches - rotate a little and go back to c)

Eben Upton has announced $10,000 bounty for the first to come up with a new open source driver that takes advantage of this release.

trouble with nanpy

I have nanpy 0.8 installed on my raspberry pi, it is hooked up sucsessfully to my arduino mega2560.  I cant find a lot of information on usung the servo library or anything else, I was hoping that someone could point me to some example code for servos or give me a quick pointer on using nanpy's servo library

Has anyone ported Bill Porters Easy Transfer for Raspberry PI?

I *REALLY* like Bill Porter's Easy Transfer library for Arduino.  Yes, I've Goo-oo-oo-gled this, but have not found any hits on Easy Transfer (Bill Porter's Easy Transfer, as opposed to that MickeySoft product)  for Raspberry PI.

Ok... so let me start with... I've been humbled by the sheer simplicity with which some of these bots on here are made.  Functional and clean.

 

The one article that has made me rethink my strategy the most is  Oddbot's article Pushing the limits with encoders

Dagu 4 chanell motor controler, how to connect

Hi all,

I have Rpaspberry Pi, Dagu 4 chanell motor controller anda Dagu Rover 5 and I want to make a robot. :)
I read many articles about all of this components but to me isn't clear yet how to connect motor controller to other components. On motor controller I have on one side 4 pins for each chanel. On PWM pin I will connect PWM signal generated from RPi? On dir pin I will connect direction signal generated also from RPi? GND pin on each chanel I will connect to GND of battery supply? Where to connect current pin? Which serve this pin?

It can be program to do very diferent tasks. At the moment it has a floor cleaning routine, a navigation routine based on wavefront. It can detect movement and send video via email and Twitter Direct message and it can be remote controlled via a Web Interface, it talks too.

Reverse pendulam using Rpi,Arduino and additional 0.75kg - which rover 5 chassis to buy

i am trying to built a autonomous car ( which can also be controlled by wifi) using DAGU rover-5 chasis , dagu 4 channel motor driver , raspberry pi (for wifi and camera) and arduino uno. i also like to use the same platform for inverted pendulam project using MPU6050 which is my next stage target , so the car needs to be very swift or agile to maintain the balance and change the direction.

powering raspberry pi from lipo battery

can i use SBEC or switching voltage regulator it to power raspberry pi and arduino together , connecting with a 3s 2200mah lipo? does the electrical noise of sbec create problem for raspberry pi and arduino? i dont want 11v volt battery gets wasted by heat while conversion to 5 volt.

what options i have to power raspberry pi or arduino (5volt) from lipo battery? also does BEC coming from ESC is suitable for such charging?
