The Zio Qwiic UV Sensor VEML6075 by Vishay is designed to detect the intensity of UV A and UV B light waves. It has an excellent performance in taking measurements even after long term solar exposure, and features an I2C interface. Additionally, it can output the UVI (Ultraviolet Index, the strength of light radiation at a particular place and time) after a simple calculation. The UVI values range from 0 to 11+, with 6 or above indicating a high radiation index, suggesting that one should use sunscreen or stay indoors.
Most Zio boards incorporate the Qwiic connector to transfer UV data via I2C, allowing for easy setup and measurement. If you would like to use the SPI interface instead, simply solder the header pins provided.
