Very Please with my first time shopping experience at RobotShop and with the product
I bought the Carbide 3D Shapeoko 3 from RobotShop after doing some research that this CNC router that will best fit me with what I need to do. I was skeptical with RobotShop because I never shop on RobotShop but I was pleasantly surprise how helpful Nathy was, she went extra length to provide me with information and processed my order very quickly. It was a good first time shopping with RobotShop. In regards to the Shapeoko 3 CNC router, it is a good entry level CNC router but you do need to tram the machine in order to do any aluminum or metal parts. Overall, I am please with the overall purchase and the product.

    Satisfactory
Fairly easy to build, could use more in-depth build instructions. The machine worked first time tried with the exception of the touch probe which still does not work at all.

Set up was relatively easy but the diagrams are sometimes a little hard to see.
Have only done a couple of small initial projects but it works well.

    Great product
I am new to CNC and after a few years of humming and hawing I made the plunge. Couldn't be happier. Very happy with what this Shapeoko can do. Nice size. I work with 1foot to 16" square pieces and this is a perfect size. The machine is robust and quick and well made. It came in a kit which was easy to put together, took a couple hours and was as fun as the projects Ive been working on. It was missing a part and I contacted robot shop they contacted Shapeoko and the part was at my home in a few days. Very happy with everything, the machine, the delivery and the after sales service. I recommend.

Easy to setup, easy to use, wonderful CNC router!
This machine is well build and well designed. Easy to use compared to the ebay Chinese CNC router. I am excited to start making parts with it.

    Great so far
My Shapeoko 3 was fairly easy to assemble, even though I'd never built a CNC mill before.
I had a limit switch issue that turned out to be largely due to outdated assembly instructions on the Carbide 3D website.
The good folks at Carbide support, who solved the problem for me, say that updated assembly instructions are imminent.
Over all, given high apparent quality and the support provided by Carbide 3D, this machine is, in my opinion, a solid buy, Looking forward to further adventures in CNC milling.

    Wow
There is a steep curve to learn the software, but it is a LOT of fun learning and playing. I’m excited about the potential.

    should have bought one sooner
After having this for just under 2 weeks i have made more complicated projects than i expected to at this point. The only problems that occurred were human error (not paying attention to small details prior to cutting). No complaints on the product other than having trouble assmembling since i used the instructions for the large machine as there were none i could find for the standard size machine. The controller is in a different spot on the large machine, so i had to re-assemble the machine twice after noticing this mid-way. I recommend budgeting for quality software and a vacuum attachment as it makes quite a mess. Very happy with my machine and plan to upgrade in the near future.

    Simply Fantastic
I purchased a Shapeoko 3 a couple of weeks ago. It arrived very quickly. I was very pleasantly surprised a how easily it was to assemble. I found this machine to be very solid. The cnc works beautifully with g-code generated through the V Carve software. I could not be happier with this product. My only recommendation is to acquire a dust boot attachment for the machine (this is something I have yet to do but intend to do shortly)

    Best Purchase
As a complete beginner into cnc milling. The Shapeoko 3 is not only easy to use, but was also very easy to assemble! It arrived quicker than expected and the RobotShop support team was very helpful in answering any questions!

    good service nice machine
I ordered the shapeoko and in regards to postage and delivery I have nothing to complaint about. it was fast and seamless.
the machine itself is super nice. it comes without the spindle and with an american 1/4 inch end mill which means that if you are from europe, you must have a 6.5 mm collet or get a 1/4 inch collet(6.35 mm ) but other than that it is super nice.
robotshop Has these collets and I advice that you order them at the same time as the cnc so that you do not have to wait and pay postage for the collets . you should order a few endmills as well imo

Tops in the CNC Entry Level Market!
I have long awaited to own this unit for nearly 3 years! I finally was able to achieve to become an owner of a Shapeoko3!

Packaged like a Pro, by a Pro!

Setup was quite complicated, even with having so much time to review numerous setup YouTube Videos! TAKE YOUR TIME DURING Setup of your own unit! There is lots of people to request assistance if it is required.

Carbide 3D & Shapeoko Forums are your best bet to scout the pros out. Everyone, including

Carbide's Support Team ROCKS! I had wires connected wrong, Z Mount plate was installed upside down, yet once everything was corrected,

I'm glad to report that my Shapeoko3 is turning out basic signs as starting projects. Once I am comfortable with the basics (Learning GCode is like learning Greek, or some other Foreign language), the sky is the limit, where only your imagination is your limit to what you can build.

Stick with it, and you, like me will be tickled pink!

I highly recommend the Shapeoko3 (any size). Mine is a Standard 16"x16". Spindle is the DeWalt 611.

    Great fun, but not perfect
I'm very much a beginner at this so bear that in mins when interpreting this review.

The machine arrived quickly and was very well packed. Setup was very simple following the website instructions, though there do seem to be a few versions of the machine (and the instructions) around so need to be careful that you are following the right ones.

My first few attempts to cut anything had problems with the depth varying from one area to another, that I eventually tracked down to the z-axis stepper motor shaft slipping - I think the grub screw had not been properly tightened on its shaft.

Trying to square up the table using the online instructions did not work completely - some shims were needed suggesting the extrusions had not been cut precisely square.

Having set everything up and resolved these problems all seems well, though I'm starting to think I should have gone for a larger model - the cutting area on this is smaller than you might think from looking at it as the router cannot move all the way to the sides or back.

The Carbide3D software seems very basic - but there are plenty of alternatives out there.

Great machine, but I’m no expert
I bought the Shapeoko after reading some rad reviews and rad it is ! Carbide 3D has facilitated the Cad-cam workflow that many beginners find daunting by providing their own easy to use software. I am carving away ! I decided on Dewalt for my router and it fits and works perfectly.
