The Pololu Dual DC Motor Driver 1A, 4.5V-13.5V- TB6612FNG is perfect for controlling two bidirectional DC motors or one bipolar stepper motor. This tiny board is an easy way to use Toshiba's TB6612FNG dual motor driver. A recommended motor voltage of 4.5 - 13.5 V and peak current output of 3 A per channel (1 A continuous) make this tiny board a great motor driver for low-power motors. This dual motor driver has a built-in thermal shutdown circuit and maximum PWM frequency is 100 kHz. This little breakout board gives you direct access to all of the features of the TB6612FNG and adds power supply capacitors and reverse battery protection on the motor supply (note: there is no reverse protection on the Vcc connection).

Excellent motor driver

These little drivers easily handle 2A and stay very cool. The advantage of taking up so little space is a big advantage for small robots.

These drivers work very well. I was concerned about heating as I am driving a 12V motor at 2A but these devices stay quite cool - cannot detect any temp rise but just touching them with my finger.

Compact Size, Well built

I am using this to drive 2 x Pololu gear motors using a MSP430G2553 and it works great.

Positives:
Pins functions are labelled right on PCB
Small size
Well built
Reliable
Does not overheat

Negatives:
Lots of control pins. Each motor requires IN1, IN2, PWM, and STBY to operate.

This is ideal to make fancy robots using powerful DC motors. Non of the 3 I'm using has been broken so far and the alowed PWM frequency is high enough to avoid noise.
One drawback is the need for individual closure of the half-bridges inside (at least for my project which is about controling a simple DC drive in 2 directions). You can however save one pin per full bridge if you use a hex-inverter to generate the input for the secondary half-bridge.

All in all - very cheap, very good!
