The AndyMark Flyer Overdrive Gearbox, CIM/NEO Input, 1.92:1/1:1.92 represents a significant advancement in gearbox technology for FRC applications, offering both overdrive and underdrive capabilities within a single unit. This innovative design allows the output shaft to spin faster or slower than the input, providing flexibility in performance. The gearbox features a 1/2 inch hex bore on both gears, enabling users to configure it for either overdrive or underdrive, thus accommodating various operational needs with a single purchase.
The gearbox includes a short 1/2 inch hex output shaft that extends approximately 2 inches from either face, with the option to replace it with any Toughbox output shaft. The front and rear bearings have a 1.125 inch outer diameter, allowing for the replacement of the rear bearing with another 1/2 inch hex bearing. This facilitates the use of a pass-through shaft of any desired length without the need for machining, making it ideal for applications such as roller intakes when combined with compatible wheels.
Designed for ease of installation, the gearbox's "wings" can slot over any 1 inch wide extrusion, such as Peanut or Box Tube, simplifying the mounting process to a robot's frame. The gearbox offers three hardware options for input: CIM/NEO, Falcon, and Sport Gearbox. The CIM/NEO and Falcon options are particularly suited for flywheel shooters, providing a bearing-supported output shaft optimized for absorbing shock loads. The Sport Gearbox option adds another stage of reduction and offers a reversed, offset shaft, making it suitable for mechanisms like climbers.
Additionally, a no gears option is available for those who wish to supply their own gears to achieve a custom ratio. The gearbox can accommodate any two 20DP, 1/2 inch wide, 1/2 inch hex bore gears totaling 70 teeth. This flexibility allows for a symmetrical setup by using the empty shell as a mounting point for an extended shaft.
