The DFRobot micro:Driver Driver Expansion Board for micro:bit & UNIHIKER is a highly versatile and practical tool, appreciated by makers, students, and teachers alike. Its simplistic design, combined with an abundance of pin resources, opens up a world of endless possibilities.
This expansion board not only provides access to 9 micro:bit onboard GPIO interfaces but also includes 4-way motor drives and 8 servo interfaces. The 4-way motor drives can also be repurposed as 2-way stepper motor drives.
The micro:bit Driver Expansion Board utilizes an I2C external drive chip to control the motor and servo motor, requiring only two I2C pins. This allows for dual control of the motor and servo without the need for additional resources.
The board employs an HR8833 motor driver, capable of a maximum continuous operating current of 1.5A. This makes it suitable for driving both ordinary small motors and N20 mini metal motors. Each motor port is equipped with a positive and negative rotating indicator, facilitating easy identification of the motor running direction. This feature makes the board particularly suitable for students and makers working on small projects.
The extended GPIO and the servo interface adhere to the DFRobot-Gravity standard interface, supporting a wide array of modules and sensors. The servo interface is directly connected to the Vin power supply, thus enhancing the supply current and enabling multiple servos to operate simultaneously.
The expansion board is compatible with a power supply ranging from 3.5V to 5.5V. It is equipped with a DC 2.1 plug and a wiring terminal, allowing for direct connection to three dry battery boxes. The board also includes a USB to DC 2.1 adapter cable, enabling power supply from a power bank. This feature makes the board both economical and environmentally friendly.
