This is a nice soldering kit to build your own signal generator and sensor for an electrical perimeter wire. The generator board is based on the popular NE555 Timer and the sensor board is based on two LC (tank) amplified circuits. Can be used with DIY Robot Lawnmowers. A processing chain (amplification, filters, comparison) makes it possible to determine the position of the robot within to the wire. Note that the perimeter wire is not included, but it comes with the through-hole components.

Great kit

Works great. Made a diy mower. Could easily tell when it reached the border and which side arrived first so I could turn the best direction.

Doesnt work and incomplete kits

Unfortunately the kits I received were not complete. After receiving the replacement kits with the missing components (which were themselves again incomplete but I was only missing one of two capacitors each time so it was ok for me) the sensor wouldn't output any data at all except a steady changing value in the range of 780. Very disappointed. Comment RobotShop: We are very sorry to hear about the defective parts and our team will contact you regarding another kit!

Wish this kit came assembled

Wish it came assembled. I haven’t got to check it out but. Looks like it will work as long as assembly goes well.

Doesn't work. Don't waste your money (but mostly time)

I've bought 4 of these kits. I've soldered them together all per the instructions. The receiver PCB does not work as advertised! I'm getting a steady voltage of 3.8V on the signal lines even with no sender PCB.

Effective and well-designed kit

This perimeter generator kit with its 2 sensors is well designed, simple to assemble, the plan provided is brief but sufficient... I tested with a small cable and an Arduino, it works well...now all that remains is to mount it on my robot mower prototype and test with a longer wire. In short, cheap, effective, I recommend!
