The Sequent Microsystems 3 40A/240V Relays RS485 Daisy-Chainable HAT for Raspberry Pi is designed to enable the Raspberry Pi to manage heavy-duty, three-phase industrial loads. This card integrates seamlessly with the Raspberry Pi through the I2C port and can be operated using command line, Python, or Node-RED drivers. Additionally, it can function independently when mounted on a DIN-rail, controlled via the RS485/MODBUS port from any standard PLC. The card features status LEDs to indicate relay activity and a power LED to show when power is applied. A convenient push-button switch allows for the shutdown of the Raspberry Pi without the need for a keyboard and monitor. Compatibility extends across all Raspberry Pi versions from Zero to 5, ensuring flexibility in application. The card requires a 12V power supply, which is connected through its own pluggable connector, and it includes an internal converter to supply 5V and up to 2A for the Raspberry Pi. Although the large size of the 40A relays prevents stacking multiple cards, up to 32 cards can be daisy-chained using the RS485 port. A DIP switch on the back of the board allows for the selection of the RS485 local address when multiple cards are used. The card also includes a general-purpose push-button that can be programmed for various tasks, such as activating relays. Note: Shutting down the Raspberry Pi by turning off the power can result in SD card failure; a shutdown command should be used before power cut-off.
