The Sherline Mill DRO w/ CNC Thrust Collars 8160 (Metric) is an advanced digital readout system designed to enhance the precision and ease of use for machinists operating Sherline mills equipped with stepper motors. This system requires the removal of handwheels to install CNC stepper motor mounts, as it measures handwheel rotation and translates it electronically into table movement. This feature is particularly beneficial for CNC users who wish to verify the leadscrew movement against the CNC input, ensuring accurate axis movement.
Digital readouts have become a staple in modern machining, offering significant convenience by allowing machinists to reset the X-, Y-, and Z-axes to zero with a simple button press. This eliminates the need for counting handwheel revolutions or performing complex calculations, as the digital readout provides precise table position readings to 3-1/2 decimal places or .01mm in metric. The kit includes handwheels with encoders for each axis, a digital readout box with an LCD display, an RPM sensor, and all necessary mounting hardware, ensuring a comprehensive setup without the need for additional modifications to the mill.
The system also features an RPM readout, adding further functionality to the package. The power supply is versatile, automatically switching between 120V and 240V, accommodating various electrical standards worldwide. This adaptability makes it suitable for international use, although a wall socket adapter may be required outside North America. The electronic readout box can be shared between a lathe and a mill, offering cost efficiency for users with both machines by purchasing additional handwheels and cables.
Note: The system is designed for manual use and is not suitable for CNC machines operating at speeds exceeding 15 inches per minute (381mm/min).
If you are not satisfied for whatever reason with a Product you bought on the Site, it is possible to return it for refund within 30 days from the date you received it unless otherwise indicated in the Product listing.
