The Sherline Single-Axis Slide w/ Programmable CNC Controller 13 is a sophisticated tool designed for precision control in machining applications. This device integrates a single-axis controller with a built-in computer chip, eliminating the need for separate computers or drivers. Users can operate the stepper motor directly via a keypad or input simple program commands for sequenced operations without requiring knowledge of G-code. The system allows for the entry of parameters such as direction, travel distance, feed rate, and program pauses, accommodating up to 40 programmed steps across two user-settable programs. Controllers can be interconnected to signal each other for sequential actions and can communicate with other CNC systems using "sense" and "acknowledge" signals to ensure synchronized operations during CNC sequences.
The stepper motor is equipped with dual ball bearings and a preload nut to eliminate endplay, while a dampened coupling connects the motor's shaft to the leadscrew. This setup, combined with micro-stepping technology, ensures accurate and smooth travel. The dual-shaft stepper motor also allows for manual operation using the provided handwheel, offering an alternative to computer-controlled movement.
Mounting options for the slide include provisions from both the bottom and the top. The base features four holes for bottom mounting, while top mounting is facilitated by angle clamps that slide into the base's perimeter groove. This flexibility ensures secure installation in various setups.
The package includes a single-axis slide with a 13-inch table, a linear controller with a keypad, a power supply, a #23 frame size stepper motor, a handwheel with precise graduations, and necessary cables, along with complete instructions for setup and operation.
Note: The power supply is designed for 115/120 VAC, 60 Hz current. For use in regions with different electrical standards, a suitable transformer or alternative power supply is required. Additionally, avoid using WD-40 as a lubricant on these slides, as it can damage the anodized coating.
