Description

  • The Zio Qwiic LoRa Dev Board operates at 433MHz and combines a LoRa module and an ATMEGA32U4 AU
  • Two boards can be used, one as a transmitter and the other as a receiver
  • The onboard antenna is of good quality

The Zio Qwiic Lora Development Board (433mhz) makes connecting a LoRa module simpler. It combines the LoRa module and the ATMEGA32U4 AU on an Arduino IDE compatible board. To set up a LoRa connection, simply use two boards, one as a transmitter and the other as a receiver.

The board also features two Qwiic connectors, which allow you to add more Qwiic modules quickly and without soldering or jumper wires.

The main IC, the ATMEGA32U4 AU, has similar performance to the ATmega328, with a built in USB. This eliminates the need for an FTDI chip, and also allows the board to act as a mouse, keyboard, USB MIDI device, etc.

The LoRa module, based on SX1278, operates at a 433MHz frequency and can be used as either a master or slave model. With the included spring antenna, the communication distance can reach up to 10 KM in open field. This makes it an ideal solution for projects that require a large coverage area. Two options are available for the LoRa module on board; the Ra 01 with a spring antenna and the Ra 02 with an IPX antenna.

The onboard antenna is sufficient for testing purposes, however, for real projects, it is recommended to solder an antenna for maximum coverage distance.
